Meet Vanessa Davis, Executive Assistant to our CEO, in this edition of Mentorship Amplified.
What does mentorship mean to you?
Mentorship means a commitment to growth. Whether I’m the mentor or the mentee, I think there needs to be a mutual understanding that change should happen.
Do you have a mentor? If so, who is it and why?
I currently have a life mentor who challenges me in all areas. As a soon-to-be mom, I felt like this was an important time for me to learn from another woman who has decades of wisdom. I’ve already learned so much about what it’s like to take foster kids into my home just by listening to my mentor.
How does mentorship benefit your life inside and outside of work?
I’ve been really encouraged by my mentor’s experiences and her confidence to even say yes to being my mentor! I say this because I’ve heard a lot of people tell me that they feel like they don’t know enough to mentor someone. It takes humility to accept that you’ll never be a perfect employee or perfect person, but you can still have an impact on someone who has less experience than you.
What brings you to The Mentor Method?
One of our past clients introduced me to Janice. After working for both small and large companies, I felt like mentorship was something that my peers really wanted but struggled to find or even asked about. When I heard about The Mentor Method’s mission, I was hooked!
